Meet the Founder
“Students don't decide STEM isn't for them because they lack ability. They decide because they were never given the chance to practice.”

Dr. Anaiya Reliford
Founder & Lead Instructor
Dr. Anaiya Reliford is a researcher, educator, and mentor dedicated to expanding access to hands-on STEM education.
She earned her Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences and both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from Howard University. Dr. Reliford is an FAA Part 107 licensed remote pilot and has contributed to research and engineering initiatives at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NOAA Air Resource Laboratory, Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center, and the FBI.
She currently serves as a Senior Research Scientist at the Research Institute for Tactical Autonomy, advancing AI and machine learning systems that support real-world air and space operations. She also contributes to the broader aerospace community through technical leadership and engagement with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
For more than a decade, Dr. Reliford has mentored young innovators ages 6–24 in robotics, engineering design, aerodynamics, and emerging technologies, helping students transform curiosity into technical capability and confidence. She founded Orbit of Opportunity (O²) to create hands-on pathways that move students beyond inspiration and toward real technical capability and opportunity.
